HELP THE HOMELSS WITH A COAT

Yo!

As always, it's been too long. Life is hectic, but I'm maintaining.

Our great friend Joi-Marie of The Fab Empire is sponsoring an AWESOME coat drive to benefit homeless people in our area. If you are near any of the locations, please drop off a coat/sweater/jacket/blanket that you no longer need. We're blessed to be able to come home to heat and warmth, but every one isn't. Please support this cause as we get through the winter frost.

DJ Alizay is the best DJ on the planet...

Check out the bio I wrote for him. This can also be viewed at www.myspace.com/djalizay202

The DJ does more than keep the party hype. He's given the difficult task of forging intimate relationships by creating memories through melodies. Already regarded as one of Chocolate City's best disc jockeys, DJ Alizay's life story is propelled by his love of the two turntables…

DJ blood runs thick and deep through Isaiah Johnson's family lineage - his father and seven of his uncles all disc jockeyed in the Big Apple. A native New Yorker, Alizay's parents relocated the family to the metropolitan area with hopes that Maryland would be a better environment for their two sons. Growing up, Alizay was different. His Jamaican mother and American father encouraged creativity and allowed him to practice graffiti on the walls of his childhood home.

Alizay was always fascinated with the art of DJing, his dreams were materialized at the age of 13 when he started taking the craft seriously. He got the moniker "Alizay" from a friend, and despite his evident talent, he didn't tell his peers that he could spin, as he didn't think he'd reached a level good enough to disclose his hidden gift. The self-proclaimed "Hip Hop Head", Alizay was quite different from his peers who weren't interested in the elements of Hip-Hip that he'd grown to love and cherish. Yet, despite his apprehension, Alizay continued to perfect his skills and had his first performance in the 11th grade at a Northwestern High School talent show. This performance marked the beginning of his career.

After graduating from high school, Alizay enrolled at the Omega Studios' School of Applied Recording Arts and Sciences in Rockville, Md. However, as he worked towards learning more about the art that he loved so much, he was also getting tons of first-hand experience, which proved to be the best teacher. Having made a name for himself among teens and young adults in the metro area, Alizay became a popular deejay choice for local parties and college events. His talent and popularity got him a spot on Howard University's Campus Radio Show. That gig was then followed by a regular spot on the University of Maryland's 88.1 radio station.

As Alizay's arsenal of music grew, he became the premiere DJ of the area and was selected to spin at clubs 2K9 and DC Live. However, securring the Friday night spot at Dream Nightclub (now called "Love The Club") and the Saturday night party at the H2O nightclub, solidified that he could rock a party like no other. Despite his accomplishments, he stayed humble and always gave credit to those in the game who came before him like the world renowned, Kidd Capri and FunkMaster Flexx, and local stars like DJ Iran and DJ Cello.

In 2000, Alizay's radio experience and impressive resume' landed him a position with Radio One's 93.9 WKYS station in Washington, D.C. He played alongside radio personalities Lorenzo "Ice Tea" Thomas, Osei – The Dark Secret, and EZ Street during the coveted five o'clock evening mix show and accompanied over 500,000 Washingtonians during their rides home from work. This accomplishment placed him within hearing reach of those who'd never heard him spin at local parties or on radio shows. While Alizay's goal never was to play radio, he excelled at it tremendously and that medium allowed him to secure an even larger fan base.

Driven by spontaneity, Alizay learned early on that the turntables didn't have to be his only source of fulfillment… or income. He began dabbling in production and A&R, and began managing D.C. rapper Wale in 2005 through his company, Capitolville Entertainment. Dubbed as DC's Hip-Hop ambassador, Wale is one of the few to bring credibility to DC rap. Through Alizay's recording industry connections, he introduced Wale to famed record executive and fashion designer, Kenny Burns.

While Alizay depends heavily on the love that he receives from his hometown, he's been able to take his craft global, spinning at Mix Show Power Summits in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, and the BET Jazz Festival in Turks and Caicos. His knowledge of what will and will not rock a crowd matched with his careful selection process keeps him as a #1 DJ choice for a broad range of events. Now a nationally recognized disc jockey, Alizay receives over 50 emails a day from record label's A&R reps., each asking him to add their artists' music to his playlist. He's successfully turned a genuine love of music into a lucrative career and he doesn't plan on stopping anytime soon. Alizay wants to work as an A&R representative, finding talent for major record labels, and plans to continue on the entrepreneurial path by eventually opening his own Smoothie King restaurant. But don't think he'll change. He proclaims that no matter how much fame her receives, he'll "always be 'Isaiah' first!". Yes, DJ Alizay has done much more than kept our parties hype, he's provided soundtracks to some of our memorable moments. He's undoudtedly the BOSS!

Been a minute.. I know! (thanx Erica)

Yes... I kno. It's been like 5 years since I posted on this thing. And if it weren't for my awesome friend Erica reminding me that it was here, it may have been another 5 yrs. LOL.

A lot has happened since we last spoke. The OHHS Class of 2002 5-Year Reunion was a MAJOR success. Over 150 classmates came out to reminisce and reconnect. Definitely a beautiful thing. Special thanks to Danisha Thomas with Warm Spirit, Body Talk LLC, and Capital Vixen Enterprises for making everything possible. Sponsors are WONDERFUL! Pics coming soon...

ARG also partnered with Dream Team, LLC to bring pro skateboarder, Stevie Williams, to the Nations Capital on July 14, 2007. Hip Hop clothing boutique Palace 5ive was transformed into a DGK haven. Special thanks to Scheme Magazine (check out the interview that ARG securred) and the Washington Post for covering the event. Stevie was REALLY impressed with how we did it in the D dot C dot!

Hmmm... lets see, what else is going on??? ARG was hired to do the PR for a benefit concert featuring Raheem DeVaughn, sponsored by United Vision Consulting Group. Coverage for that event included DC Style Magazine, Upscale Magazine Online, and The Hilltop Magazine (Howard University).

I've attached a few of the press releases and pics below. Feel free to check 'em out.

I promise to be more proactive with keeping up with this blog. Blame it on my mind... not my heart. God bless!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MEDIA ADVISORY

UNITED VISION CONSULTING GROUP PRESENTS “BRINGING LOVE BACK TO THE STREETS” featuring RAHEEM DEVAUGHN
Raheem Devaughn performing in concert benefiting the Friends of Stanton Center to be held June 30, 2007

WHO: Raheem Devaughn & SMUV featuring Art Sherrod, Jr.

WHAT: “Bringing Love Back to the Streets”

WHEN: June 30, 2007, 8:00pm

WHERE: Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis, MD

On June 30, 2007, United Vision Consulting Group, LLC will present A Vision of Love: Bringing Love Back to the Streets at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis, Maryland. The purpose of this charitable event, which will feature Jive recording artist Raheem DeVaughn, is to invigorate positive energy within the Annapolis urban community.

Over the past few months, Annapolis has experienced disenfranchisement in the community, as the schools have been plagued with an increase in fights and violence aggravated by tension between the Annapolis neighborhoods. United Vision is looking to kick off the summer with an uplifting event that will fill the void of love and unification in the Annapolis community.

A partial donation of the proceeds raised will be made to the Friends of Stanton, a non-profit organization that supports the Stanton Community Center in Annapolis. The Stanton Community Center is a historic site that has an emphatic presence for improving the quality of life in Annapolis and provides many services, including an after school program, recreational facilities, technology services, counseling services and a safe haven to residents of Annapolis.

The donation to the Friends of Stanton Center will be made in the memory of LaRon Cephas, former Final Four attendee, who passed unexpectedly in early April at the age of 29. Mr. Cephas’ death was a tragic loss to the Annapolis Community as he served as the Athletic Director at the Boys & Girls Club in Annapolis. During his brief tenure at the Boys & Girls Club, he touched many young lives as many looked to him as a positive example of following your dreams and giving back along the way.

For more information, please contact United Vision Consulting Group, LLC at 410-202-7717 or email info@uvisionco.com.

OFFICIAL M.I.L.F. STATUS BEGAN ON 3.19.07...

YUP... i had the little monster, lol. j/k. He's an angel.

Ronald Jr. was born on Monday, March 19, 2007 at 2:33pm. He weighed in at 6lbs.14 oz. and was 19.5 inches long. Labor was absolute HELL (and when I say "hell" I mean 14 hours of labor with NO epidural, only to have to get a c-section), but gosh... was it worth it!!! He's theeeee most beautiful creature I've ever seen. He eats a lot, but its ok. Big Mama has enough food to go around, LOL!

I'm currently on maternity leave, taking care of business. The work DOES NOT stop. I have a business to run (www.ActiveRG.net... just in case u forgot)!

I'll keep you posted on the updates and happenings with the baby!

Still with child...

Since we've chatted, I had the baby shower (which was lovely by the way - thanks Kris and Mommy) and my belly is continuing to grow. I'm actually due tomorrow, but the baby doesn't seem to have any desire to make an apperance any time soon... YAAAAY for me :-/ ... However, he's healthy and thats all that matters. (but boy is it hard being nine months pregnant, carrying an extra 34 lbs, and anticipating the random arrival of a newborn baby...)

I'll keep you posted on the progress. I suspect that we won't speak again until after he's born (but even then, I dont imagine having much time to be online...)

Wish me (us) luck...

=)

HAPPY ST. PATRICE'S DAY!!! (lol)

catchin' up...

yes, its been a while since I've posted and i didnt want you to forget about me. A LOT has happened since the last post, and the business is booming...

I've been asked to plan the Oxon Hill High School class of 2002 5-year reunion. I put together a 5-year reunion for my high school class (something that has never been done in our area... well, I was definitely the first to set the trend for our generation), and the kids who graduated after us were so impressed that they hired me to do the same for them. I promise this one will be BIGGER and BETTER because I know exactly what I'm getting into. ***and we're currently looking for sponsors, so if you're interested... HOLLA***

I was also asked to do some PR for an up and coming R&B singer out of the DC area named J-Rome. He's signed with Capitoville Entertainment (the same company that represents DC rapper Wale'), and he's looking to complete his package by adding a HOT bio (and u kno I'm THE one to call when it comes to writing bios... check the website). So, we'll see what happens with that...

the baby is due in about 3 weeks. Yep, I'm excited, nervous, scared... all those emotions. the baby shower is on Sunday =). I'll let u know how it goes.

TTYL!
